C. Nigrescens
Alright guys, here's my new (and only [for now]) scorp. I believe she is just as the title says. Perhaps some insight on her maturity, or if I'm even correct about this? This one in particular is for you, GS.
As for the back story, I work for Petco, and I got a call from a customer who had come back from Mexico and found this beauty in his luggage. Apparently his wife wanted it out of the house. That was fast.
This is her feasting upon a large feeder cricket. She ate 3 of them in 48 hours. When I first got her, the membrane between her "top and bottom" (I don't know the terminology, I need some time yet ) was barely visible. Maybe a mm.
Right now, Her enclosure is 80 degrees on the cool end, about 80% humidity from wetting down the eco-earth just 5 minutes ago.

Re: C. Nigrescens
Hey mate
If that's an adult cricket, that C.nigrescens would be an 7.instar female.
The husbandry seems right. At any point of time, try to keep 50% of her substrate's surface area slighty dampen, like what you are doing.
Always ensure that there's a small bottle cap of water in her tank, probably fill it once a week.
Also, she might be a wild caught which is already gravid.
Keep her well fed, and you'll never know what's waiting for you..
Btw, do you have a picture of the whole enclosure?
If you have any questions just ask

No worries mate, we all were beginners at some time.
The membrane you are talking about is the Pleural membrane , the top "plates" are called Tergites. Hope that helps
Re: C. Nigrescens
@ GS- I will take a pic when I get home of the whole enclosure. That would be fantastic if she was gravid, it would certainly bump up my collection a bit!
@Dolby- Thanks for the terms and support. I'll get there eventually.

Re: C. Nigrescens
If she does not pop by the fifth month or so, it's probably time to introduce her a male (if you are serious in breeding them).
Of course, you may do that earlier if you had the chance to. Adult pairs are able to be housed communally without issue

Re: C. Nigrescens
Quite honestly, I wouldn't know where to start in finding a male unless you're selling. I looked all over the internet to find anyone that sold them and you're the only person I saw that breeds them.

Re: C. Nigrescens
Apologies mate, I don't deal with sales/trade as I'm pretty pretty overwhelm in documenting my breeding projects. Do a detailed search over the forums, I'm sure you find someone who sells them.
