Topic Newbie from the Philippines

Post by isko on Mon Aug 19, 2013 5:51 am

Hi Guys,

Its my first time to have a scorpion and I dont have any idea about it. A friend just gave it to me and out of curiosity, I accepted. I did some readings and so far I am learning. My scorpion was identified by a local petshop as hottentota though I am not sure which type since it is just about 1 cm in size. They say it just done with 1instar. Since it is that small, I am having a hard time to find a food since small crickets are not always available. I bought a meal worm which is 3x bigger than him so I tried cutting the head of the worm so it they could match in size. He nimmbles on it but im not sure if he is eating it. Seems like the worm's head was not consume at all.

thanks guys and hope to learn more from you!

At young instars scorpions will eat dead food. So if you have large crickets crush the head to kill it and offer the food to your scorpion. Keep it dry for the most part and weekly mist 1/4 of the wall of whatever you keep it in.

Welcome!

thanks Yames! I was able to get some lateralis nymps...as little as 1mm so the size is well matched with my hotentota. I gave one lat last night and it handles it like a good yummy burger! Very Happy thanks!

That's perfect. Take a picture if you can of feeding time. I'm sure the others would get a kick out of that.
