I knew it... 1 of them was sold as male... and unfortunately I intially thought it was a male when I first peeked on the opercolum...


I had to expose it a bit using a toothpick as I was having doubts when I tried to mate it with my sure female longimanus

That's impossible. They are completely different shapes.

The combination of lighting and the close up in the second photo set makes it hard to see. The first sets are %100 clear and easy to sex. If there has been no mix up of pictures then you still have 2 female.

unfortunately, my doubts were correct, the basal piece somehow overlapped a small part of the opercolum, causing me to misjudge its gender. And only after exposing it with a toothpick, that the real shape of the opercolum became obvious
