8 new Androctonus bicolor
I just have the 1 picture for now. My emp is currently giving birth in my scorpion room so too much flash photography would be frowned upon...
I'll label them up 1-8 for future line ups. Naming will probably happen too based on a first come first serve basis.
Here's what they all look like!

Awesome addition James!
Can't wait to see your photo-documentation of their lifecycle

Thanks buddy. Your quick reply gets #3 named DolbyR.
They are so small and waddle around in their cups but I love how they hold their tails straight up like they are daring someone to touch them.

Re: 8 new Androctonus bicolor
I bought some tiny crickets today and tried a feed. #7 seemed the hungriest and actually got to feeding right away.
#7 still has no name... it's a little sad...
But even thought he didn't ask for it our other Mod extraordinaire get's one named after him.

Re: 8 new Androctonus bicolor
So the I've lost two of these guys this week bringing me down to 6. 1 just died for unknown tiny reasons. And the one that really makes me mad was a pin head cricked chewed up another one. I was shocked. I had left it on there for 2 min before looking back and it was havoc.
But I'm rewarded with this capture upon getting in tonight. I'm guessing he/she is going into 3rd i

It's been 8 hours and he/she hasn't progressed. I'm so sad. I'd need a micro surgery kit to try to help with this molt. But I've resigned myself that I'll be down to 5 Bi colors soon.

Yes they all have half shell hides. Made from paper towel rolls that I cut down. It's pretty much identical to how I raised my LQ babies but these guys are giving me trouble. I'm SOOOOOOOOOOO annoyed right now.

That's not nice...
what kind of humidity are you keeping for these guys?

Re: 8 new Androctonus bicolor
I'm misting 1/4 of the cups every 5 or so days to maintain a moist haze on the far side from the heat. I can probe it to see what I'm actually hitting. but I would guess it's 60-80 RH.
I found this guy today and am so happy.

We have trust in your "enclosure settings", those that did not make it under the same living condition should most likely be the weaker ones from birth.

Re: 8 new Androctonus bicolor
These guys have been tough to raise for me. I'm down to 2 from my original 8 it's very frustrating. But here are what the 2 look like now.
Both of my survivors are female so I'll need to source a male if I want a breeding project to take off.

Of the 2 that have survived from the original 8 I found this little gem just yesterday. That tail is starting to get nice and fat.

Re: 8 new Androctonus bicolor
My records show 7i and I must have got it at 2i. Isn't 7 the max for these guys? If that's the case she is going to be very small. Molt interval was only 52 days from 6i to 7i.

Re: 8 new Androctonus bicolor
I went back to my notes to reread everything and this is what I recorded.
brought her home - 3i 21 days
3i - 4i 23 days
4i - 5i 40 days
5i - 6i 37 days
6i - 7i 52 days
I wouldn't say I power fed her or anything. I would provide 1 small to med sized cricket every 3-4 days slowing down as molts approached upped to every day or other day right after hardening up after a molt if she was out actively hunting. Prey was removed if she didn't grab it right away.
This is her beside that trusty quarter which is 7/8 of an inch.
I figure she is 1 1/2" maybe 1 and 3/4" mouth to anus which seems very small.

Re: 8 new Androctonus bicolor
Yep, 7.instar is usually the max for A. bicolor.
Sometimes, some specimens just stay smaller but that generally doesn´t have any impact on their longevity or breeding ability, so I wouldn´t worry too much about it.

Re: 8 new Androctonus bicolor
Thanks bro. It seems like all the ones I got were the weak and small variety. Loosing 6 to molts etc. Now I just need a GIANT male to power up the offspring with good genes.
