[HOW TO] Simple D.I.Y Split Kritter Tank
There are definitely better solutions but this is what i did with some simple resources.
As my tank is just a small plastic critter tank, i decide not to use glass partition and hot glue the joints.
Items i used:
- Styrofoam board (normally used as a base for drawings etc)
- Cutting knife
- Ruler
- Matt Black sticker (normally used for car/bike decals)
1) Trim the Styrofoam to the shape of your tank so that you can squeeze it in and have a tight grip to the tank
2) Wrap it with the sticker (to provide a smooth surface so that the scorps cant climb out of it)
3) Slot it into the tank
4) Add in the sand/substrates and some deco as you prefer:
This is for my Parabuthus transvaalicus
The is for my Hottentotta hottentotta (did a split sand/coco substrate the way my hottie likes it)
5) Throw in the Scorpions!!
Parabuthus transvaalicus (4i Male & Female) in their new home
Close up on my Parabuthus transvaalicus
Regards,
GS

Thanks Tim.
It's a simple "lab-style" enclosure that suffice for desert sub-adults. Not so attractive aesthetically. lol
As the scorpion grows, the "2-room flat" can have the walls remove and merged to a single cell, suitable for a single adult specimen.
Excellent for a single brooding desert female

Awesome, I'm definitely going to give this a try! A question about the sticker though. It looks like the one in your picture has some texture to it. It wouldn't really matter as much with scorps, but do you think a smooth vinyl sticker would work just as well? I'm planning on hunting around for some materials today and I have an idea where to get some of the sticker material. Thanks for posting this!
