This is just a part of the review. So there will be a lot of hurt in the future.
Re: [Discussion] Androctonus spp.
When buying 1 scorpion means buying 50 plus... I hope.
Also she's bigger them most of the dogs I've seen in my neighborhood. That's a US quarter just under 1 inch.

Re: [Discussion] Androctonus spp.
Favorite hobby of almost every other desert on earth.. they DIG.
In my experience in rising Androctonus spp in captivity, excavator sand is NOT a must. I use a sand mix of as stated in my [ASA] Desert and Xeric Shrubland Scorpions' Caresheet(different keepers has their own preference). Provision of at least 1-2 hide per specimen is ideal for the scorpion to seek refuge from the light (daylight or artificial lighting in your room)
Note: For provision of large slate (big pieces of rock platform) that could potentially pinned down your scorpion), my recommendation that is to use it only for adult specimens of Androctonus spp. Not for young scorplings (2th-3th instar) or sub-adults(4th-6th instar). Even so. notice in the picture above, the larger slate (top) is supported by a smaller slate (lower right).

Re: [Discussion] Androctonus spp.
They usually attain sexual maturity at 7th instar. 8th instar is possible but uncommon. In scenarios when we have a smaller 7i female (as compared to the other captive breed specimens, those who were raised from young instars), attaining 8i stands a higher chance when she has not been mated before. Not absolute though... just based on my experience.
Congrats on your specimens molt to 7i!

Re: [Discussion] Androctonus spp.
Thanks. Do you have any pics with an adult male and female side by side to get an idea of the size difference. Just seems my adult male is slightly bigger than the female

Re: [Discussion] Androctonus spp.
I'm not sure.. might have posted a pic somewhere, if not, I got to find time to dug them out from my pic archives
Do you have doubts in the actual instar of the female? If you have a pic of them beside a ruler or something, we can try to assist.

Re: [Discussion] Androctonus spp.
No prob.
The following pictures features the same 7i male, who has mated with two different 7i females. The two females are siblings, who were raised from 2i.
Androctonus mauretanicus 7i mating pair (small female)
Androctonus mauretanicus 7i mating pair (large female)
Hope it helps.

Re: [Discussion] Androctonus spp.
Thanks. I think i may have a small female. Would the male kille the female if she was 6i instead of 7? I may put them together and see what happens.

Re: [Discussion] Androctonus spp.
Imo, unlikely. (At a scenario whereby a sexually matured specimen such as a 7i male (kept in the proper husbandry) was introduced to a potential mating partner.)
Take a video on the mating process, or update us on how it goes, if you need some additional opinions.
