Re: My Pandinus imperator Popped
So here at the 12 day mark I have 1 piece of news. I think I'll post the pics as they explain it very clearly.
So there you can see one little troopers turning 2i for me. I will keep a close watch to see if anyone else joins him/her in big boy pants.

These two have finished molting. I only see two molts on moms back and no one else looks ready to go but I'm sure they will follow suit soon enough.

This is a must view thread for all scorpion lovers. Just like a daily newspaper stand that I would visit daily...
Btw, those are some of the best shots on Pandinus imperators young!

Re: My Pandinus imperator Popped
Thanks gs. I took this shot today and from what I can see I think they are all molted into 2nd i. A few of them are actually looking a little darker so adventures off mom's back should start happening soon.

Re: My Pandinus imperator Popped
Hey look at us we're looking yellow and kinda hairy. I think these guys will be dismounting mom and running around in no time.
So what is the going consensus on them? Should I keep them all together with mom? Or all together on their own? Or should I put them in individual cups to ensure they get fair food and heat etc. How would you raise them from this point to ensure the highest survival rate?

Re: My Pandinus imperator Popped
I got my solid count and the number is 23. I guess someones been snacking... So i pulled them into single deli and tackle boxes. Then tossed in a head crushed cricket for each. Someone was hungry. The others kinda shied away from the meal.

Re: My Pandinus imperator Popped
The rest are all eating now too so I snapped a few more pics.
And now the funny news. With all my pics and following up on my mommy emp I kinda ignored the other girl who is now looking like this.
I guess my male was busy before he passed away last June. Either that of she's eating too much. Any thoughts?

Re: My Pandinus imperator Popped
Ive been feeding them head crushed crickets every other day. Everyone eats very quickly and tries to escape the second I open the lids. They have all outgrown my starter deli cups and I need to come up with a better solution at feeding time then opening that tackle box and throwing 18 head crushed crickets at escaping 2i scorpions. It's only going to get worse as they get bigger. But it's a fun problem to have.

Re: My Pandinus imperator Popped
So I found a local scorpion guy who wanted some of my 2i emps in trade for some Androctonus bicolor and some Babycurus jacksoni. I took 20 Emps for 8 bi color and 3 jacksoni. So over all I'm down 9 scorpions.
Here are the little guys getting ready for their big adventure.
Mom and new step Dad toasting each other over a tasty cricket.
I kept 3 from that brood to raise up figuring that's a safe number. No sooner do I get home from making the trade and I find this...
Look for my next post. Emp popped 2.0

Superb. Other than baby P.imperators... you may also say that she's popping other scorpion species for you since you have more "chips" now to do trades.
Congrats!

The mother pictured here died last night it would seem. Cause of death is presumed to be old age. Her age was also unknown and she was purchased as an adult.

Re: My Pandinus imperator Popped
Mostly likely yes. That's a common thing when we get them as adults.
Good thing is that she has left her legacy before she passed on.

I feel the same way GS. She was a large and beautiful specimen I'm glad she got to pass along her genetics.

+1 , it's a great feeling when we are able to preserve the legacy a couple of generation forward.
